Downtown Garnett welcomed a new business this summer that has been an active employer of ACHS students. 130 Collective is a collaborative community of three businesses: Monroe 816, 3 Monkeys Bakery, and The Beloved Book Co. Monroe 816 sells decor, The Beloved Book Co. sells books and related items, and 3 Monkeys Bakery sells meals, treats, and coffee.

Since the opening, it’s gained a lot of attraction, especially with their special events. There are a lot of girls from ACHS who work there besides myself (Emma). Some of those girls include Emily Sobba, who works for 3 Monkeys Bakery, and Rose Katzer who works for Monroe 816. According to Sobba, “The people are always nice and I love all my coworkers. My boss is the sweetest person ever, and I like making coffee.” Katzer also enjoys working at 130 Collective, “My favorite thing about working at the 130 Collective is the amazing atmosphere and community. I love the people I work with, and how the customers know who I am. It’s an experience that you could never get from working anywhere else!”
130 Collective is active on Facebook and keeps followers up-to-date with upcoming events such as “Boos, Brews, and Books” on Wednesday, October 15, at 6 p.m. Customers are invited to wear a witch hat or ugly Halloween sweater to enter a drawing, eat treats at a S’more bar, drink festive fall drinks, and enjoy a generally spooky atmosphere.
