Cross Country ends season with a splash

Bulldog runners arrived at a flooded and muddy XC course at Neodesha last Saturday, October 25. The course zig-zagged back and forth over ditches full of water, and sharp corners led to slips and falls for all teams that competed.

Maddie Reichard fords through a water-filled ditch.

Top runners from the boys’ and girls’ teams were 45 seconds from placing high enough to qualify for the state competition (the top 15 runners). Junior Maddie Reichard ran the 5K course in 24:34, and Junior Grant Neinstedt ran a time of 20:16. Runners showed grit and determination in completing a difficult course in adverse weather.

Junior Wesley Mills ran a 21:28.

Seniors Emma Bauman and Hope Hill show off their muddy legs after the race.
