Cupcake Wars – Round Two

By Allie Kummer

Mrs. Corley’s Baking and Pastry 1 class competed in their second competition of the year last Friday, October 24. The chosen theme for this Cupcake War was Mrs. Corley’s birthday.

Table #1

Table one had the theme Alpha Delta (Mrs. Corley’s sorority). The cupcakes were funfetti with vanilla ice cream filling and royal icing.

Table #2

For table two the theme was Mrs. Corley’s favorite season (fall) and “teacher.” The cupcakes had hot chocolate-flavored cake and chocolate frosting.

Table #3

Next, table three chose the theme: “Mrs. Corely’s favorite things.” They decided to make chocolate cupcakes with strawberry filling made with real strawberries.

Table #4

Four table 4, the theme was also Mrs. Corley’s favorite things (Diet Pepsi, “yeehaw,” and hearts). The cupcakes were chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting, with some wearing fondant crowns.

Table #5

Table five didn’t have an exact theme other than the word “Chocolate”. They decided to go all out with chocolate and make chocolate cupcakes with Oreo frosting and an Oreo on top.

Students sang “Happy Birthday” to Mrs. Corley before the judges started sampling the cupcakes. Mrs. Corley’s parents were judges, along with Officer LaVota and a few teachers.

The winners were Table Two. The hot chocolate-flavored cupcakes were moist and delicious, and the decorations were detailed and thoughtful.
