Fall Sports Awards Ceremony

Students and coaches who participated in fall sports this year were recognized at the Fall Sports Awards Ceremony last night, November 11, at 6 p.m. at ACJSHS.

Cross Country Coach Mike Sibley and Assistant Coach Everett Cox recounted their last season as coaches (they are both retiring). They acknowledged that it had been an honor to spend over 20 years with ACJSHS students and coach them to be the best runners (and students) that they could be. Sibley delivered an emotional farewell to the season and was met with standing applause from an audience of parents, teachers, students, and fellow coaches.

Following Cross Country, Golf Coach Nicole Wiehl came up to the lectern and remarked, “Well, how am I supposed to follow up to that?” and brought laughs from the audience. The girls golf team then came up, and Wiehl praised the girls and recognized their performances from the 2025 season.

Wiehl gave out the team’s favorite candy.

After the Golf team finished, the volleyball team’s coaches came up. The three teams’ coaches were Varsity Coach Tarrie Miller, JV Coach Melissa Lutz, and C-team coaches Mrs. Pope and Mrs. Akes. Varsity athletes were recognized for their great sportsmanship. JV Coach Lutz celebrated their winning season, and C-team coaches praised the improvement of the athletes’ skills over the season.

After the volleyball awards wrapped up, the football team and coaches stepped up to describe their season. Coaches Luke Catloth and Matt Stevenson talked about how each class of players (freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors) had improved throughout the season.

Senior Aiden Steele received the Bulldog of the Year award for football.

Principal Marshall Nienstedt wrapped up the ceremony by presenting the academic awards for the fall sports season.
