Red Cross Blood Drive

By Emma Jordan

The annual Anderson County Blood drive was held on Thursday, November 13. It was hosted by the American Red Cross and held at the ACHS gym. It started bright and early at 8:30 am and ended right before the end of the day at 2:30 pm. Anyone was welcome to sign up and donate, even 16-year-olds, as long as they filled out a consent form. Walk-in appointments were also welcome as long as there were time slots available. Many students and teachers donated, including Mrs. Sigel who said, “I’m glad the school hosts it because otherwise I might not have gone and given blood.”

Junior Allaya McCoy was one of many students who donated blood.

Donors who download the Red Cross app can see exactly where their blood donation gets used. Other benefits include points to get Red Cross merchandise, being able to see what blood type donors have, and also medical screenings donors can take to their doctors.
