Interview with Principal Marshall Nienstedt

How long have you been working here?

This is my 9th year. 

What motivates you to do a good job every day?

I think what motivates me to do a good job is the town and the school. I never want to let students and staff down by not giving it my all.

Why did you choose to work at ACHS? 

Honestly, we wanted to get closer to family. My wife grew up here, my parents are from Ottawa, and we wanted to get the kids moved before they got out of elementary school

Do you have any pets? 

Yes, I have one pet, a cat named Fuzzy Ball Paul.

What do you like to do in your free time?

When I am not working, I like to golf and read.

Is it overwhelming being the principal?

It can be, but it’s also rewarding.

Where did you go to college? 

Emporia State.

What’s one of your favorite quotes?

How long have you been a principal for? 

This is my second year as lead principal, but I was vice principal for thirteen years. 

What is one big goal you have for the school?

Positive attendance, engagement, and for every student to find the path to success when they leave these doors.
