What Students Really Think About Thanksgiving Food & Fun

By Allie Kummer and Hailey Gregory

We sent out a Thanksgiving survey to see what students actually like (and hate) about the holiday—and the results did not disappoint.

First, the biggest shocker: Stuffing is the most hated food at our school. A few students wrote “Cranberry things,” and one person even put “human,” which… hopefully was a joke.

When it came to favorite dishes, students had way more to be excited about. Mashed potatoes were a big win, along with ham, mac and cheese, and basically every kind of pie. One student summed it up perfectly: “Any pie.”

Students also shared their favorite Thanksgiving activities, and the top choices were eating (obviously), hanging out with family, and watching sports. Some people just picked “All of the above,” which honestly feels right.

The big Turkey vs. Ham debate? Still going strong. Both sides had plenty of supporters, so no clear winner there.

Students also said they go to anywhere from one to four different Thanksgiving dinners. And when it comes to extended family, opinions were mixed—some love the chaos, and others said, “I don’t really care” or just “No.”

Overall, the survey proved one thing: students have very strong food opinions, questionable spelling choices, and a sense of humor. But no matter what you eat, who you see, or how many Thanksgivings you attend, we can all agree on one thing…
Thanksgiving break is the real winner.
