On Friday, November 13, the Anderson County drama department put on the annual fall musical. This year, they performed “The Drowsy Chaperone” directed by Mrs. Markham and Mrs. Goetz and choreographed by Holly, Rayan Kulhman, and Heidi Miller.
The musical began at 7 p.m. and had no intermission due to its shorter length. The musical is about a theater-loving guy who plays his favorite old Broadway record. As it plays, the characters from the show magically appear in his living room, acting out a wild 1920s wedding story filled with jokes, big songs, and exaggerated personalities.

Owen Thompson, who played Aldolpho said his favorite scene from the musical was “When Aldolpho and Mr. Feldzieg were discussing their plan.” He also said it took him “The entire time” to become fully ready because “When it comes to a play, you’re constantly having to improve.” The musical was dedicated to Carmen Powls, who played the piano at all the musicals and had always wanted to perform The Drowsy Chaperone. Chloe Moore said the musical was “Really fun and entertaining!” Another cast member, Autumn Bird, said her favorite part was “Hanging out with people I wouldn’t normally hang out with,” and that it took her two months to fully prepare.
