School lunches are always a hot topic—everyone has strong opinions, and everyone has a favorite. So I set out to rank the best meals our cafeteria serves and ask a few students what they think, too.
My Top Lunch Rankings
- Pizza — The undefeated champion. Whether it’s classic cheese or pepperoni, it’s the one lunch almost everyone rushes for.
- Hot Ham & Cheese — A solid second place. Simple, warm, and actually filling.
- Crispito — A fan favorite packed with flavor.
- Popcorn Chicken — Always reliable and usually worth the line.
- Corn Dog — Not amazing, not terrible—just a classic cafeteria staple.
- Hamburger on a Bun — Fine, but not my first choice.
I also really miss the orange chicken and rice they served last year—it was one of the best meals they’ve ever had. And if you haven’t tried the cafeteria pumpkin pie, you should. It’s surprisingly good.
What Other Students Think
To get more opinions, I talked to a few students about their favorites and least favorites.
- Eden, 9th grade – She rarely gets school lunch, but when she does, hamburgers are her top pick. Her least favorite? Chicken noodle soup.
- Taylor, 9th grade – Taylor eats school lunch one or two days a week. Her favorite is the crispito, and her least favorite is the corn dog.
Conclusion
Everyone has different tastes, but pizza still seems to reign supreme. As the school year continues, I’ll keep asking students for their rankings. Who knows—maybe a new lunch item will surprise us and take the number-one spot.
