Boys Basketball: Burlington Game Recap

By Westin Wright and Landon Totten

The boys’ basketball game on Tuesday, February 3, between Burlington and Anderson County was electric, but neither the varsity nor the JV teams won. Reporters spoke with players Aleck Smith, Aiden Perez, and Landry Hedrick to get their thoughts on the game.

When asked what they thought about the game, Smith said the other team was more focused and made more shots. Hedrick said the team played well, made shots, and got teammates involved, but needed to communicate better and give more effort. Perez said he was very disappointed with the lack of effort from the team throughout the game.

The players were then asked if they played and whether it was on JV, varsity, or both. Smith said he played on varsity. Hedrick and Perez both said they played on varsity and JV.

When asked how many points they scored, Smith said he did not score because he did not get passed to. Hedrick scored a total of ten points across varsity and JV. Perez scored a total of six points.

Finally, the players were asked if they enjoyed the game and what the team needed to improve. Smith said he enjoyed the game but felt the team needed to be more hyped up and ready. Hedrick said the game was fun, but the team needs to want the win more. Perez said he was hyped up but wished the team would stay focused and maintain the same pace throughout the game.

Even though the teams did not win, the players showed effort and gave honest feedback about what they can work on for future games.
