Several students at Anderson County have a variety of pets, from horses to turtles to more unusual animals.
Timber Vermillion has three horses of her own, though her family has even more. Her horses are named Twix, Dollar, and Beezie. Dollar, her current rodeo horse, is four years old and was purchased last year. Twix was her previous rodeo horse but was retired last year after Timber discovered she had a heart murmur. Beezie is a broodmare expected to give birth at the end of March, although the foal may arrive a little later than planned.
Kamrie Feuerborn also has several horses and a unique donkey-horse mix named Bobby Joe. Her current rodeo horses are Bobby Joe and Freckles. Oakley is another horse in her herd and is expecting a foal between April and May. Jake is a project horse that Kamrie is working on and plans to sell after finishing his training and tune-up.
Kylah Stoy has a whole collection of pets, including a turtle named Turkey, three dogs, four cats, a rabbit named Princess Carrot, a bearded dragon, and a gecko named Rex. Kylah says her turtle is her favorite. Turkey is a water turtle who is so large that he can’t climb onto the island she made for him. About her rabbit, Princess Carrot, Kylah jokingly said, “Don’t ask how she got her name, I didn’t name her.”
Paisley Clinton shared that she used to have a raccoon, which she raised from a baby to almost two years old before it had to be let go. She also told a story about an emu named Echo, which technically belongs to her aunt and uncle’s youngest son. When he left for the Army, he didn’t have time to sell the emu, so his parents took care of it. Recently, Echo got out during a windy day, prompting a thorough search around the Kincaid area. Fortunately, the emu was found a few days later.
From rodeo horses to emus, Anderson County students have a wide variety of pets that keep them busy and entertained.
