FFA Week took place February 23–27, and members celebrated with activities planned for each day.

On Monday, FFA members voted on what they wanted for lunch. The winning choice was a pasta bar, which was served during their lunch hour. Freshman Kaylee Scheckel said, “Yeah, it was really good. I had Alfredo sauce and noodles, and the garlic bread was really buttery.”

Tuesday’s activities included a fun tradition for Greenhands: dyeing their hands green. During advisory, FFA members who wore their FFA shirts received donuts. Freshman Ruth Jones said her dye stayed on for about three days, but for most people, it only stayed on for one day at most.

On Wednesday, members participated in Cowboy Olympics during advisory. Teams of three competed in an obstacle course that included weaving through poles with a wheelbarrow, riding stick horses, and completing a roping challenge. Walker Leabo said his team won and that he completed the roping portion of the course. When asked if he had fun, he said, “I had a great time.”
Thursday morning featured a special breakfast for FFA members, and students were allowed to drive tractors to school. Sophomore Max Sims rode a 6400 John Deere tractor that goes about 10 miles per hour.

On Friday, several FFA members visited the elementary school to talk about what students can gain from being involved in FFA. Brooke Kent, the president of the FFA and a senior, said, “We mainly talked about what the FFA is and how it can benefit you.”

Overall, FFA Week created an exciting and memorable experience for members. Many students describe FFA as a welcoming environment that feels like family. Students continue to say it is a great organization to be part of and encourage others to consider joining next year.
