Students Share Their Dream Colleges

Many students at ACJHS plan to attend college after graduation, each with their own goals and dream schools. A group of students was asked where they hope to go and why.

Freshman Landon Totton shared that his dream college is Louisiana State University. He said he is excited about the opportunity to meet new people and experience a different environment.

Sophomore Askel Smith said his top choice is Allen Community College. He explained his decision simply, saying he likes the atmosphere and feels like it is the place for him.

Sophomore Mia Brewer Velvick chose the University of South Florida as her dream school. She said Tampa’s location is a big reason why, since her aunt lives there and she would be close to the beach. She added that doing homework by the ocean sounds like a dream.

Sophomore Hayden Wright said she is interested in attending the University of Wyoming because much of her family lives there, making it feel like home. She also mentioned Nebraska as another option, since her favorite wrestler, AJ Ferrari, attends school there.

Jaelyn Leyser plans to start at Allen Community College, where she wants to major in nursing while also participating in cheer and golf. After that, she hopes to move to Missouri to finish her nursing degree.

Senior Brooklyn Strobel said her dream college is Pittsburg State University, and she has already been accepted. She said she likes that it is affordable, smaller in size, and has a strong program for the degree she plans to pursue (construction engineering technology).

From staying close to home to heading across the country, ACJHS students have a wide range of goals for their future. No matter where they choose to go, each student is taking steps toward their own path after high school.
