On Wednesday, January 28, the ACHS Scholars Bowl team took to Baldwin. The competition began at 4 p.m. with 7 rounds of play. Anderson County won 3 of the 7 rounds and lost 4. When asked why she wanted to join the team, Junior Josie Sumner said, “I was actually dragged into Scholars Bowl by one of my friends, and I decided to stay because I didn’t hate it as much as I thought I would.” Sumner also said that she enjoys getting the fine arts questions right.
Mrs. Alexander, the Scholars Bowl Varsity coach, said, “This is my 3rd year as Varsity coach, and before that I did 2 years as JV coach.” When asked why she decided to take the role of Varsity coach, she said, “I did a similar type of competition in Arizona when I was in high school called the Academic Decathlon.”
The top 3 highest scorers of the night were Truett Vermillion, Brooklyn Strobel, and Josie Sumner.
