A Night in Rio Brings the Heat : ACHS Prom Delivers a Night to Remember

On Saturday, May 18, the ACHS juniors hosted this year’s senior prom and they definitely delivered. The night kicked off at 5 p.m. with photos by Rockers Photography, giving everyone a chance to show off their outfits before the main event. By 6:45, parents filled the auditorium to watch the Grand March, as students walked the stage and made their big entrance.

After that, it was time for the dance. Students packed into the school for a night full of music, food, photos, and plenty of time with friends. The theme, “A Night in Rio,” came to life through colorful, detailed decorations. Mrs. Corley, head of the prom committee, and the junior class put in a lot of work to make the night feel special, and it showed.

Junior officer Bree Schafer summed up the feeling after weeks of preparation: “Completely relieved, and I feel like I can finally breathe now.”

For many students, the night lived up to the hype. Junior Carter Herman said, “The music was good, the food was good, being around friends was fun, and I got to wear a nice suit.”

Of course, no prom is complete without after-prom prizes. Jack Nienstedt shared his thoughts, saying, “They could have been a little bit better due to the money left over, but they were good.”

To wrap up the night, seniors Owen Thompson and Kenna Goetz were crowned prom king and queen. Goetz said she felt “like a princess,” while Thompson joked that he was “expecting nothing less.”

For seniors, it was also a night of mixed emotions. Jordan Miller reflected on her final prom, saying, “It was kinda sad, but it was really fun.”

Overall, it is safe to say this year’s prom is one students will not forget anytime soon.
