What Do Students Do for Work?

A lot of students at Anderson County Jr./Sr. High School have jobs outside of school. Some work at local businesses, while others have their own businesses. These jobs give students a way to make some money while also getting work experience.

Sophomore Brody Clark works at Sonic. When he is working, Brody car hops, counts money, and gets to eat some of the food. When asked what his favorite part of the job is, his answer was simple: “Getting money.”

Sophomore Vivian Riblet has two jobs. She works at the local library and also has her own slime business. At the library, Vivian checks out books, cleans and organizes the shelves, restuffs stuffed animals, and helps with events. She has also had some interesting jobs, including counting a 750-piece puzzle twice. “It took forever,” she said.

Vivian said her favorite part about working at the library is getting to read books in her free time. She also enjoys having her slime business because it gives her a chance to meet new people.

Junior Shelby O’Connor works at Park View Heights as a housekeeper. She cleans rooms, helps residents get ice, and gives residents rides to their rooms in a wheelchair. Shelby said her favorite part of the job is the residents.

Between school, homework, sports, and other activities, these students have a lot going on. Having a job adds even more to their schedules, but it also gives them a chance to make money, meet people, and learn new skills.
